A native Floridian, hailing from POLK COUNTY, the Southern Socialite is a lover of all things Southern (well almost all). Family vacations as a child throughout the country inspired her to explore various regions as an adult. She has lived in every time zone of the continental U.S., except mountain time.
Education is the key to her heart. She is a graduate America’a flagship boarding school, Piney Woods Country Life School located in Mississippi. Additionally she has completed three collegiate degrees from three HBCU’s, Talladega College, BA; The Barbara Jordan & Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern, MPA; and most recently Miles Law School, JD.
The Southern Socialite has a great affinity for service. Her attentiveness and dedication to service developed during her childhood as her mother would regularly bring the youngster to various civic and political meetings. It evolved further through initiatives both in school and at church. Often dubbed as being a natural born leader, she has continued to use her successes and opportunities as a vehicle to help elevate others. Once enrolled at Talladega College she set out to continue being a community servant joining various organizations including SGA and the Public Administration Society, both of which she would serve as an executive officer, Vice President and President respectively. That dedication to service coupled with a childhood desire led to membership into her beloved sorority… ALPHA KAPPA ALPHA Sorority, Inc.
When asked, “why do you keep serving others despite what you may be going through yourself ?”, she refers to a biblical scripture… Romans 15:1-2 (Message Translation) “Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?”
