Recent news reports and some celebrity twitter posts suggest that South African’s are ruining the games with their staduim horns, called vuvuzelas. I must admit, I’ve found the rants and criticisms to be quite typical of us Americans. Many critics have suggested the horns take away from the game, they’re annoying or that they should be banned all together.
I say, ”When In Rome Do As The Roman’s Do” or, at least don’t offend a person when you’re in their house!
American cyclists and soccer fan Lance Armstrong posted on his Twitter page, “No offense to the vuvuzela posse but, man, it’s a bit much.”
The World Cup will continue for several more weeks, as will the demands for South African’s and other fans to stop using their vuvuzela’s at the games. However, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) President, Sepp Blatter made it clear when he had this to say today on Twitter: ”To answer all your messages re the Vuvuzelas. I have always said that Africa has a different rhythm, a different sound … I don’t see banning the music traditions of fans in their own country. Would you want to see a ban on the fans of your country?”
Thank you Mr. Blatter, now just don’t let them sway you over the next few weeks!
